Dr. Michael Briseño was determined to become a doctor ever since career day in elementary school. He loved the idea of learning and studying medicine and using that knowledge to help others. One of the things he enjoys about Orthopedics is that you can typically see substantial improvements in patients’ quality of life quickly after an intervention. He chose to specialize in spine because he loved the intricacies of spine anatomy and surgery. He joined North Texas Orthopedics & Spine Center in 2014.
Dr. Briseño likes to educate his patients as much as possible. Many patients are confused as to what is going on in their own body and haven’t had someone take the time to explain it to them in terms they can understand. He takes a non-surgical, holistic approach first to most spinal diseases. He only utilizes surgery when all conservative options have been exhausted or there is an urgent neurologic concern. Some of his medical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal decompression, spine fusion, deformity correction, artificial disc replacement, and spine trauma.
In his free time, Dr. Briseño enjoys spending time at the soccer fields, theater for his daughters’ acting and dancing, his kids’ school activities, and traveling with his family. He and his wife are from California originally, so they try to get to a beach location as much as possible.
