At North Texas Orthopedics & Spine Center, we are committed to providing athletes with individualized care that not only helps keep them in the game but also helps with injury prevention. That’s why our physical therapists and rehabilitation experts are proud to offer Sportsmetrics, a scientifically proven comprehensive jump training program that helps athletes prevent injuries and enhance their competitive athletic performance.
Sportsmetrics is one of the largest anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury prevention programs. This six-week jump training program was designed for high school male and female athletes. It also has been scientifically proven to help them reduce their risk of a knee injury, including ACL injuries, as well as increase their jump power and overall leg strength in sports that involve pivoting, cutting, and jumping.
This ACL injury prevention program lasts for six weeks, with three sessions occurring each week. Each of these sessions incorporates a dynamic warm-up, plyometrics and jump training, strength training, speed and agility training, and flexibility training. The drills and exercises used during these sessions are designed for neuromuscular retraining and range from simple jumping drills to multi-directional and single-foot hops to plyometrics.
Additionally, this training program also utilizes video analyses of each athlete’s jumping mechanics as well as their knee control when decelerating and accelerating. These videos are used to help athletes visualize their performance and show their progression.
This ACL injury prevention program was created to provide both male and female athletes with multiple benefits. In addition to enhancing their competitive athletic performance, it also does the following:
The ACL plays a crucial part in providing stability to the knee during sports activities. It is also one of the most commonly injured knee ligaments. Each year, there are around 300,000 people in the United States who suffer a tear to the ACL. A majority of these injuries occur in female athletes, who are four to eight times more likely to suffer an injury to the ACL than male athletes. These injuries often result in the loss of a full season, a scholarship, or even an entire sports career.
Sportsmetrics helps to prevent these injuries from occurring as well as helps athletes improve and enhance their abilities.
